Random STUFF

This used to be a page for news and updates from the world of Q but lately it's become a place to keep some random stuff. I usually post news stuff elsewhere onlie.

Facebook

Now I have a fan page on Facebook. It's a quick and easy way for me to interact with my legions of fans and followers... Before you request my Twitter info, please note: I hate Twitter - their whole operation is one big rip-off of the Facebook status update and I won't be using Twitter any time soon (If at all).

So far, I've seen every sunrise of 2010. Here's one from my back window...

Making MILK

In the spring of 2008 I was an extra in MILK, the bio-pic of openly gay San Francisco Supervisor Harvey Milk. Below is a video I shot of Producer Bruce Cohen addressing the crowd of extras assembled to re-create the candle light march that took place in 1978 following the assassination of Harvey Milk and Mayor Moscone.

The film stars Sean Penn and while I still think he's a terrible choice for the roll, the final product turned out quite good. In the scene where they're passing out flyers for Harvey's election you can see my chest and elbow in a brown corduroy jacket as I take a pamphlet from someone on the sidewalk. The camera never pans up to my face but maybe I'll get some face time in the DVD outtakes. Lucas Gabreel portrays my pal Danny Nicoletta in the film. Danny is one of Harvey Milk's proteges. Danny worked in Milk's camera store and went on to co-found the world's first International LGBT Film Festival. It began with a bunch of short films shown on a sheet in a parking lot and grew to be the premiere festival of its kind.
