Louis
makes his own shoes too!
You'll have to go to Amsterdam to make your own clogs. Of
course wooden shoes aren't very practical these days unless
you're a gardener or a farmer. If you're in the city, they
aren't very conducive to long bouts of shopping or running
to catch a cab. I suggest you try making a pair of shoes on
the Internet, as I have.
Vegan Shoes? What will I think of next?
I found a company that lets customers customize their shoes
before they buy them. The company is called Customatix and
their concept is still in the newbie, gimmicky stage. With
their slang infested prattle, they're obviously going for
the male, teen demographic. So if you dig kicks dude, it's
the bomb!
The
magic of the Internet
They have different types of shoes and even boots, all with
"zones" that you can customize with a range of choices.
For the pair pictured here, I chose a basic Patriot colour
scheme. At the base of the heel you can add text. For this
pair I chose "LOVE" for the left one and "BUNNY"
for the right one. They even let you add a graphic to the
sole.
I'm still waiting for them to introduce more colour and material
choices so I can make a pink and green pair of shoes in loving
memory of the pink and green Puma's I wore in the 80s.
As
if I don't have enough shoes already
As the company matures, I'm hoping they'll introduce a range
of Oxfords. I've never even seen black and white saddle Oxfords
except in baby sizes or on television. They could tap into
the Baby Boomer's nostalgia factor and with some skate shoe
soles, add a 21st century twist that will update the look
for their core demographic. The concept of mass customization
is the wave of the future, and it's totally fun!
C'mon now, even Nike and Levis are doing it, so why don't
you? I get a little kick-back from the company, so please
use the banner below to access the their site and set up a
customatix account.
