Week One

This week's theme was "Musical" because it was consumed by iPod related musical activities

EVENT: LOADING UP iTUNES
I spent almost all of my free time this week importing as much of my CD collection into my computer with iTunes. It has allowed me to fall in love with some of these songs all over again. I've already got nine days worth of music in the machine and I'm not even a quarter of the way through my CDs. That's without listening to anything twice mind you.

Week Two

This week's theme "Rememberance" because of the September 11th 2001 related activities.

EVENT: MATT'S BACK
My little pal Matt came back to SF. He lives in NYC so I don't get to see him very often so it was great to have a chance to hang out again.

EVENT: FLIGHT 83 MEMORIAL CONTEST
The local art acadamy had their students enter the contest to create the Flight 93 memorial. Mat and I checked it out...

EVENT: DISCOVERY CHANNEL DOCUMENTARY ABOUT FLIGHT 93
The Discovery channel aired a new film about Flight 93's final hours...

Week Three

This week's theme was "iTunes vs. iPod" because I spent so much of my free time trying to import more of my CD collection and getting the songs to sound good on both my computer and on my iPod.

NEWS: iPOD'S SOFTWARE SUCKS
I love iTunes on my computer. I think it's one of the better music file management systems I've ever used. Having said that, I think it sucks when it's shrunk down for use on the iPod. While Apple has done much to upgrade the way the software handles compilation albums, it still isn't oriented or optimized for dance music lovers like me where I could have twelve different versions of the same song because they are all remixes. It's not much of a hassle to deal with it in iTunes coz I use it mainly when I'm working on the computer. When I use my iPod though, it is very frustrating and at times hurtful to think that Apple just doesn't care about people like me who might want to hear the whole album that a particular single came from. I find it hard to believe that they never considered that I might not want to listed to the same song four times in a row when my iPod is in shuffle mode. I suppose it still IS the best thing going, but they are certainly leaving themselves open for someone to come in with better software that's optimized for dance music.

Opera and classical music fans have many of the same file management issues in that a particular piece may be performed by various orchestras but they all have the same composer. Alienware created and dominates the gaming PC niche and hopefully, someone will come in and do the same thing for the MP3 market - soon!

This week's theme was "PARTY" because there was so many festive events to attend .

The weather was downright hot. As was the crowd...
