Big
Brother ends next week
I stopped watching the show, but I am updating a page about
it for my Internet friends. I originally made a chart for
my pal Irwin to track the shifting alliances and strategies
in the US Big Brother house. You can see it HERE.
Seems that BB4BBQ.com
found it and put a link on their site. Besides getting a HUGE
boost in traffic to quartknee.com, I got the satisfaction
of knowing that the Internet's largest and most popular Big
Brother fan site appreciates my work. Because I'm so grateful
for the props, I've decided to return the favour and stop
my recaps and commentary in my blog and just send you all
to the BBQ
for that type of thing... not that they need more traffic,
just that they have all the Big Brother info one would ever
need.
New Big Brother News
My friendster Jonathan works on Big Brother as a story editor,
nocturnal control room controller and keeper of the 'hot sheet'...
all of that is Hollywood style lingo for the fact that he
works on the show and he's invited me to go to the BB4 wrap
party next weekend! Because there's so much going on next
weekend, I'll just be able to fly down on Saturday and then
fly back to SF on Sunday. While that will make it quite the
whirlwind weekend. I'm quite excited and haven't done anything
quite so Hollywood since my fabulous Oscar Party weekend...

Monterey
We grabbed Irwin and headed down to Monterey Bay. Irwin was
nattering on so much all the way down there... but he was
totally hilarious so we let him go on. Once we arrived, we
parked and had a wander round Cannery Row. Then it was off
to the Monterey Aquarium. It took us a while to find the Jelly
Fish exhibit because we kept getting distracted with all of
the other really cool displays. We
saw a trio of Sea Otters, a few sharks and some really ginormous
tuna. One of the Aquarium staffers told us the largest tuna
in the tank was well over 300 Lbs. He said that they never
get that large in the wild any more because tuna is the most
popular fish in the world and it's being hunted extensively.
Apparently they used to get larger than a thousand pounds
but it would take too many years for that to happen these
days. All of the exhibits were really well put together and
totally unique. The lighting was really well suited to each
tank and display area. Most
of the Jelly Fish glowed and it almost seemed like some type
of bio luminescence. I don't know how anyone could spend the
day in such a wonderful place and then go out and eat a seafood
dinner, but many people do.
After the Aquarium, we drove down the coast to Carmel to
watch the sunset over Carmel's Ocean Beach. The weather was
amazing and the beach was packed with tourists like us. We
wandered into town a bit after the sun went down and we had
a mediocre meal in a really fun restaurant at "The Barnyard"
shopping mall.

Lit Quake
All of my adventures with Martin & Dave over the weekend
meant that I couldn't make it to the Lit Quake events in Yerba
Buena Gardens. While I was planning to check it out and at
least hear a couple of authors reading their work, I ended
up going on a road trip and a beach trip instead. I had a
great time both days, so no regrets really and hopefully I'll
be able to attend next year.

Heat
Wave
The hot weather came back this weekend and I took advantage
of it by going to the beach with Martin and Dave.
We went to Golden Gate Bridge which is just down from Baker
Beach. We had to climb down a trail etched into the side of
a cliff and it was well worth the effort as the beach was
great. Of course I ran into several friends and Martin and
I recognized quite a few faces from our old gym. Martin and
I both got scrapped up a little, he by a wave pushing him
into a rock and me while loosing my footing on the climb up
the cliff, but all three of us made it back to the car safe
and sound. The weather continued to be warm through the night
and it was the perfect way to cap off such a nice weekend.
