Need A New Watch?

Recently, I joined a group of other bloggers to network and share ideas once a month:

Week Ending 19 October

This week wasn't filled with crazy weather. I couldn't tell if it was the last gasps of our idian summer or winter's first freeze. My little neighbourhood had a 20 degree (F) difference in temperature from Sunday to Monday = what a warm up!

My New Friend!

My pal Jayde is now a big sister! Her sister's name is Jazmyn
Jazmyn = precious flower
Sudeh = patient one
Eronim = I did not think it would be like this.

Like Jayde, Jazmyn's middle names are Nigerian. She was born in September, but it took her mum about a month to settle down enough just to dash out a note about the birth. As soon as I get a picture, I'll add it to Jazmyn's page of "Uncle Bunny's bragging" section of the site.

Club Faith turns FIVE!

The average life-span of a club night is about 2 to 3 years because the whole scene changes over ever 5 to 7 years. Obviously my pal Blackstone is doing something right every Thursday night to keep the club fresh and to constantly reach out to new clubbers. We talked about doing a club like Faith when he came to visit me in London. I came back to SF earlier that first year and by October we had a space and the concept solidified. I worked the door for the first few months but I kept my day job and when it got too rough doing both, I stepped aside. The club kept going and growing and several months ago, I returned to help sort out the Club's Website. To celebrate the anniversary, they had a hot dance performance with a drag queen doing Britany Spears. Free CDs and door prizes rounded out the night.

Cabled Q

I got cable TV in exchange for a rent increase. I guess it was too much of an administrative nightmare to keep track of who paid for it and who didn't with tenants coming and going every month. It's kind of a big building so I can see why they'd want to change the system. I'm just bummed that I don't get my favourite local channels anymore, but at least now I get forty more channels of commercials and integrated marketing.

Clubbing

Saturday was the monthly meeting of the SF chapter of the tall club I founded two years ago. We had a really great turn out and even found a tall Texan wandering round the Castro. He was delightfully surprised to discover our group and I think we inspired him to start a chapter in Dallas.

Debates
The SF Mayoral debates took place this week, but they were only covered on a local station that I can't get anymore so I missed them. With all of the recall hoopla, it's hard to get interested in them.

Media Bias Revealed
My views about media bias in the recall election were vindicated this week when a study by a policy-research center based on the Berkeley and Stanford University campuses was released this week revealed that California governor-elect Arnold Schwarzenegger benefited from lopsided media attention during the pivotal first weeks of his campaign.

The study examined more than 1,500 news stories written by staff writers for The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and San Jose Mercury News that appeared between the week of Aug. 6, when major candidates entered the race, and Oct. 6, the Monday before election day. It found that just under three-quarters of the stories focused on candidate Schwarzenegger as their subject. The most offensive finding of the study showed that the actor’s wife, Maria Shriver, was discussed with about the same frequency as Green Party candidate Peter Camejo. She wasn't even a candidate, so how can they justify the coverage? Her "celebrity" as a Kennedy or her involvement with NBC? Perhaps now we can say if he was married to anyone else, he would still be a washed up action star.

Shrub snubs Cali on his way to Asia
Much was made about the first meeting between Bush and Arnie. Both men were begging for money and while the Shrub made off with about a million dollars, Arnie was left empty-handed. He tried to play it off later when he told reporters that he didn't even ask for a Federal bail-out. He claimed that he wanted this first meeting to be about building a rapport. He promised that when he takes office and audits the books he'll be in a better position to know what to ask for. It makes sense so either he's got some pretty atute advisors or it's just his handlers being master spin doctors. Only time will tell.

Peace IS PatrioticThe Age of Imperialism

Death Toll Higher Than Ever
This week more Americans died because Bush lied.

Priorities
Republicans are far more interested in fixing schools, roads and infrastructure in Iraq instead of fixing schools, roads, and infrastructure in America.
