Need A New Watch?

Recently, I joined a group of other bloggers to network and share ideas once a month:

Week Ending 2 November

This week the warm-up ramped down and I enjoyed the last vestiges of SF's "indian summer" until winter hit on Thursday. Friday saw the first rains of the season hit the bay area...

FDA says Clones OK

A senior official of the Food and Drug Administration said today that he saw no reason to place special labels on milk and meat from cloned animals if those products reach grocery shelves. Contrary to what the FDA says, there is no level of 'acceptable risk' when it comes to putting unproven science on the table for dinner....

Fire Season Hits Full Swing

Fourteen fires in California, burning over an area of 600,000 acres near Los Angeles and San Diego, have led to thousands of people being evacuated from their homes. More than 2,600 houses have been destroyed and about 20 deaths recorded...

Retro Costume

When I was growing up, most of the kids in my neighborhood were fairly uncreative. Instead of thinking long and hard about what you wanted to be for Halloween, you'd run with your parent to the store at the last minute, and grab a prepackaged costume made by Ben Cooper or Collegeville of some famous character. Superheroes, Monsters, and Star Wars characters were usually the favorites, but every now and then you came across a few gems that really made you scratch your head...

Halloween

I got into the holiday mood with a scary movie, a scary car ride and a really fun costume party...more halloween fun...

Irwin's B-Day Party

Irwin's mum still lives in Healdsburg and he's got a bunch of old friends up there, so he put together a little dinner in Santa Rosa to celebrate. His actual b-day is next Wednesday, but the weekend before worked better. The food was good and it was really nice to meet his mum and other brother in addition to some of his other friends.

Election '03

Junk Mail
I finally started getting propaganda about the propositions and mayorial candidates this week. It sucks that the recall got so much news coverage and now the fires are taking centre stage. Apparently, TV and Newspaper editors think natural seasonal weather conditions are more important than democracy.

Election '04

Death Tolls Affect the Polls
The latest rocket and bomb attacks in Baghdad are only the most recent in a series of setbacks for the Bush administration that threaten to turn Iraq into a political liability just as the 2004 election cycle is beginning...

Q3 Spike in Growth
It was totally incredulous that the Shrub was trying to take credit for the reported jump in GDP this week. How come all the bad data isn't his fault too? Capitalism acts worse than a crack whore in its addiction to growth but companies keep exporting jobs or going out of business and job growth is the only real metric that most Americans care about no matter how much pundits and politicians act otherwise.

Peace IS PatrioticThe Age of Imperialism

Death Toll Higher Than Ever
This week more Americans died because Bush lied.

Priorities
Republicans are far more interested in fixing schools, roads and infrastructure in Iraq instead of fixing schools, roads, and infrastructure in America.
