This week we breezed through several more chapters of amazingly
tedious lecture. I'm grateful that our instructor is only
highlighting the most important concepts and not even skimming
over the rest. It IS a conceptual class after all, but there
still seems to be a heavy reliance on basic algebraic principles.
That coupled with the professor's amazingly droll delivery
style made for a mind-numbing experience. How can this guy
make something as cool and sexy as science seem so boring?
ugh.

Mr.
Rogers
Wow, Mr. Rogers is dead. He's been on TV for like my whole
life and even though we stopped watching his show ages ago,
the man was an icon. He chose to teach by being an example
of patience, kindness, generosity, sharing, and emotional
management skills and without a commercial motive. He wrote
all of his own material, including the songs! His passing
caused me to reflect on unqualified kindness, unparalelled
generosity, and the potential of the human spirit. Sure the
guy probably had sex with his socks on, but hey, who wants
to think about Fred Rogers having sex? Let more of us try
to be as kind and giving as Mr. Rogers, and dream of more
people like him coming into the world.

Al
Qaeda Captain part of Terror Twins?
This week, the governerds announced that their paki-lackey
'authorities' captured Khalid Shaikh. The media was anxious
to report that the guy 'could be the #2 or #3 guy in Al Qaeda'
I find three things extremely disturbing about the whole thing.
1) The people who should know, don't know what his exact
role in the organization. After spending well over 100 Billion
dollars a year for the last five years for 'intelligence'
they should be able to tell us what this guy's role in Al
Qaeda is/was and why they targeted him for arrest/kidnaping.
2) The guy is now sequestered in a hidden, non-disclosed
location and the American government and media readily admit
he's being subjected to torture in the hope that he will reveal
information about Al Qaeda. Sure the whole torture and secrecy
thing is offensive enough, but the truely insidious thing
about the whole endeavour is the ease with which its being
perpetrated and the whole attitude of normalcy they try to
shroud it in.
3) The guy looks like he's the twin of porn-king and living
legend, Ron Jeremy.

Drums
of War
This week, Bush acted like he never even heard of Osama Bin
Laden and he still seems hell-bent on his Iraq attack.
