Workin'
It
This week, things shifted at work for me. I have to concentrate
on wrapping up the longer-termed projects I've been working
on and I passed the day-to-day payroll stuff back to the other
staff. I had to spruce up my resume to reflect the new skills
I've acquired and while I was met with a somewhat strange
reception by the recruiter, there are a few opportunities
for continued tenure that I'm considering. Next week I'll
have to make some decisions about my career, so this week
I've concentrated on info gathering to help evaluate some
scenarios.

School
I keep forgetting that I sort of have to start school next
Monday. Maybe I should have done more to enjoy my last week
of freedom, but oh, well.

Music
2 Many DJs These guys are crazy, but I like it. When
my pal Marc described the album, I thought it was a mash-up.
The 2 Many
DJs web site doesn't really give much indication as to
the style, they just go off on the clearance issues of liscencing
so many tracks. At first I thought they could be samples or
maybe a Mash-up album. But basically this is a mix album of
weird, ecclectic, often dancey electronic music with ironic
twists (like Dolly Parton's 9-5) thrown in. Mash-ups are really
popular in NYC right now, it's characterized by playing two
records simultaneously from start to finish for their ironic
and musical content. Some work and some don't, the lazy version
usually has some indie guitar rock anthem with R&B vocals
over it.
For any PRINCE fans reading this, RUN=DON'T WALK to grab
a copy of Muzic Magazine's February 2003 issue. The free CD
attached to the mag has a brilliant re-working of "I
Would Die 4 U" by Space Cowboy. It stormed the clubs
last summer but didn't get much play beyond them. It's the
best Prince cover I've ever heard and very electro-house and
so totally NOW.

Drums
of War
This week, the Bush Administration's popularity polls dipped
sharply and they went out on the full frontal attack of the
Media airwaves. The shrub's henchmen (and women) seemed to
be everywhere, on every channel "selling" their
war. With no new information and no weapons inspectors report.
The weapons inspectors have only had TWO MONTHS to sort stuff
out, it took Bush three times that long to sort out his budget.
As a voice of reason, the EU allies voiced their opposition
to Washington's war mongering. I don't know of a single person
who does or who would admit to secretly supporting an Iraq
Attack, but then again, I live in San Francisco. It's nice
to know that there are others in the world who feel the same
way about peace and multi-lateralism that I do.
