Recently, I joined a group of other bloggers to network and share ideas once a month:

Week Ending 21 December

This week the Advent theme is "Love"...

BLACKOUT!

The biggest shopping day of the year and lots of stores in San Francisco couldn't even open! Irwin rang up to check on me as did my pal Jonathan in LA but I had electricity and finished my shopping over a month ago so I didn't even notice.

A Porn-Filled Christmas

I wasn't really sure about what to expect when I got the invite for the GQB Christmas Party, but I recognized the names of all of the performers mentioned and even knew a couple of them personally so I decided to check it out. I tried to get the SLO posse to go, but they had prior Christmas parties to attend. Somehow I convinced Irwin to tag along and with vague directions, we ended up trecking through the mist and rain to the Campus Theatre. We got there about an hour before the show started and talked to quite a few familiar faces...read the full story...

No Real Surprise...

They released the new designs for the World Trade Center redevelopment project. Besides being incredibly ugly, they are calling it "Freedom Tower" because it will rise to a height of 1,776 feet and that number coincides with the year of American Independence. What the F*#k does independence and freedom have to do with the tragedy of September 11th, 2001? It's disgracefull enough to see how the FDNY and NYPD have reacted to the tragedy without being subjected to more ugliness from the architects. It's abberant enough to see how politicians have warped, twisted and otherwise capitalized on the criminal justice issues to justify their political power-grabs and personal wars without seeing their underlings further erode any lingering goodwill toward our country and New York State in particular.

After two world-renowned architects spent months debating the size and shape of the tower that will rise at the World Trade Center site, a compromise design was announced Friday for what could be the world’s tallest building -- and one that incorporates safety features like separate staircases for firefighters and “blast-resistant glaze” on the lobby glass...read the full story...

Sadam In Captivity

All the photos of Sadam in American captivity have been making the rounds this week and the one thing missing from all of the media coverage has been reports of independent verification of the guy's identity.

We have been lied to about so much having to do with Iraq and I can't help but wonder if Sadam's capture is yet another lie. Look at the photo and you can see how long the guy's beard is. I know Middle Eastern men are supposed to be hairy than the average westerner, but Sadam had a smooth chin in the videos of him released this summer. The videos were authenticated by the same authorities that tell us the guy now in captivity is Sadam. I've had a beard for several months and I don't see how his beard could grow so long so quickly.

I'm sure the Shrub would be devestated if the real Sadam turned up next month in Syria or something, so surely they must have the right guy, right? I guess all I'm saying is I won't be surprised if we find out in ten, twenty, fifty years or so that the real Sadam was killed and US forces just slipped in one of his 15 identical stand-ins.

Also, I won't be surprised if their "Sadam" is killed before standing trial in whatever kangaroo court they can pretend to legitimize. If for no other reason than to keep him quiet about the real nature of his relationship with every Republican regime in America since the 1960s.

Election '04

Pouring the spin on Sadam in Captivity
It was repugnant to see how smug and gleeful the US Administration was as they announced that Sadam's capture changes nothing and will more likely INCREASE THE LEVEL OF ANTI-AMERICAN VIOLENCE AROUND THE WORLD. Of course corporate reporters and pundits were quick to point out how 'subdued' the response has been while side-stepping the fact that the Shrub's regime has basically done everything in its power to make American less secure for the safety of life, liberty, property and the persuit of happiness.

Peace IS PatrioticThe Age of Imperialism

Death Toll Higher Than Ever
This week more Americans died because Bush lied. They caught Sadam Hussein, but Bush admitted that violence will continue. He seemed to caution people lest they think this thing will be over anytime soon. Shamefully, the Shrub still doesn't care and has yet to even call a US family to send his personal condolences or those on behalf of the country they died serving. To date, there has been no official response to the deaths in Iraq beyond imposing a media blackout and downplaying the ever increasing numbers.

Priorities
Why are Republicans far more interested in fixing schools, roads and infrastructure in Iraq instead of fixing schools, roads, and infrastructure in America?
