This week the Advent theme is "hope"...

World AIDS Day

I'll have to dig up some stuff about aids to go here...read the full story...

Rosa's Refusal

In 1955 Rosa Parks, a gutsy black lady refused to relinquish her bus seat to a white man in Montgomery, Alabama. Her arrest triggered a year-long bus boycott by African Americans, and set the stage for the modern civil rights movement....read the full story...

Election '03

It's almost over
It's so obvious that the Chronicle wants Newsome to win. I hope that Berkeley research group does a study about their mayorial coverage to prove it... Al Gore was in town this week, stumping for Newsome. Who thought THAT was a good idea? Let's get the biggest looser in history to endorse a local guy... What they've really shown is that the Democratic Party has run out of ideas and now I'm actually considering Gonzalez as a viable candidate. Newsome has been so busy courting the tiny Republican strongholds in the city that until this week, I thought he was a Republican. Obviously he hasn't got his message out adequately enough and that's a huge component of the Mayor's job...

Election '04

Fake Iraqi Turkey
Reports surfaced this week that the Shrub's "secret" trip to Iraqi was all a staged photo-op... as if we really need MORE proof that he's lied about his motives and intentions. Apparently, the turkey platter that Bush was photographed holding to 'serve' the troops stationed in Iraq was fake. It was plastic just like his foreign policy...

Peace IS PatrioticThe Age of Imperialism

Death Toll Higher Than Ever
This week more Americans died because Bush lied. Shamefully, the Shrub still doesn't care and has yet to even call a US family to send his personal condolences or those on behalf of the country they died serving. To date, there has been no official response to the deaths in Iraq beyond imposing a media blackout and downplaying the ever increasing numbers.

Priorities
Republicans are far more interested in fixing schools, roads and infrastructure in Iraq instead of fixing schools, roads, and infrastructure in America.
