Beefcake
gets muscled out of the house... (again)
Justin got evicted from the house and true to form, the opposing
alliance won the HOH competition and nominated the two strongest
players in the 3 opposing alliance. The back and forth predictability
is VERY tedious, and I purposely missed the Tuesday and Saturday
episodes because they're so predictable. I've gone online
to read about what's up in the BB house, so I'm still keeping
up on the game, but this year's cast has been such a let down.
They're still not as bad as the first season, but I was hoping
that last year's cast raised the bar.
The "twist" was nothing more than another moral
competition. Last year's involved money and came out of left
field (Expect the Unexpected) This year, it involved peanut
butter and jelly sandwhiches instead of money... sorry, but
as a viewer, there's not much to hook me into caring about
the HGs starving... wanting our favourites to win a lot of
money is a totally different matter, because they are all
in the house to earn a lot of money...
I originally made a chart for my pal Irwin to track the shifting
alliances and strategies in the US Big Brother house. You
can see it HERE. Seems
that BB4BBQ.com
found it and put a link on their site. Besides getting a HUGE
boost in traffic to quartknee.com, I got the satisfaction
of knowing that the Internet's largest and most popular Big
Brother fan site appreciates my work. Because I'm so grateful
for the props, I've decided to return the favour and stop
my recaps and commentary in my blog and just send you all
to the BBQ
for that type of thing... not that they need more traffic,
just that they have all the Big Brother info one would ever
need.

Bowling
My little straight friend, Sean invited me to go bowling
with him and his work buddies on Wednesday.
I met them at the bowling alley near my house and after a
short round of introductions, we sorted out our shoes and
found our lane.
I was off to a great start. I got three strikes in a row
and encouraged the others to use the dots on the floor to
do the same. Michael was better at that than any of us. About
half-way through my first game, the knuckle on my middle finger
felt sore and bruised and I couldn't seem to get over the
slight curve that had creeped into my release. My second game
was four points lower than the first, but it was still a really
fun night out.

Food
in da hood
Very surprised and excited to see this sign in the window
of an empty store front near my house. I have heard rumours
about a natural foods store moving into my neighbourhood,
but I thought it was just a rumour. While Whole Foods is more
of a yuppie food store, they do have a lot of organic products
which is great considering it's about a block away from my
house.

Blacklight
Bowling
I told Irwin about my bowling experience and he wanted to
go bowling too. We got there late on Saturday night and the
alley was deep into their "Blacklight Bowling" night.
All the balls were glowing and the disco lights were a bit
distracting. I slipped a little bit on my first throw and
in recovering, I hurt my right knee somehow. My knuckles were
hurting too so all factors combined with being tired after
a busy week resulted in three of the worst games I've ever
bowled in my life...

Sunday
Sunshine
We finally got a heat wave in San Francisco! Sunday's temperature
reached 89 degrees which broke the record set in 1931. I took
advantage of the great weather to venture over to the bay
and walk around a bit. I sat watching the sailboats drift
by and savoured our little taste of summer.

Election '03
Arianna Rox the Bay Area
Gubernatorial hopeful and Q's favourite, Arianna Huffington
was in the East Bay this weekend. I didn't get to hear her
speak, but I've been to her website and at this point, I think
she's the best candidate if California votes to recall the
governor.

Election '04
Unclear on the concept
I heard the Director of Communication from the Shrub's Department
of Justice on a radio programme this week. Obviously she had
no idea how basic radio formats work because the host was
constantly cutting her off. Media runs on sound bites these
days and if you can't make your point in ten to twenty seconds
then the perception is you're unprofessional at best and at
worst, totally trying to stretch the truth.

The
Age of Imperialism
Death Toll Higher Than Ever
The cumulative effect of the guerilla attacks on US forces
in Iraq is leading to a domestic backlash against the Shrub's
"plan" for Iraq. While it was vastly under-reported
by a corporate media bullied into submission by an administration
keen on using access as currency, military families staged
demonstrations at bases all over the US this week. You know
it's bad when the conservatives and republicans are joining
the chorus of 'bring our troops home'
UN Offices BOMBED!
Terrorists in Baghdad bomed the UN office this week. The
incident should make it more difficult to hand over peace
keeping operations to the UN as most nations don't want to
put their citizens in harms way for the Shrub's folly. The
control issue is the main concern of the US regime and their
sound bites floating through the British and Dutch media make
them sound like they really only want to control Iraqi Oil.
