For the week ending October 13th

I found it to be in extremely poor taste for organizers to go ahead with "Fleet Week" festivities considering the poor state of the nation. A few of my co-workers were really excited while watching the Blue Angels practice overhead. All I could think about as I watched them dash about the sky was, "That's why we don't have national health insurance"

America is still open for business and so are we!

Workin' It

This week was easier for me physically and mentally. I feel like I'm getting my working groove back during this month long temp assignment at The Sharper Image corporate office.

It was pretty intense on Wednesday as I had to eat something quickly and dash off to class for mid-term preparation. I feel fairly confident that I'll do alright on the test next week, but it still put a damper on my weekend.

Give Peace A Dance

When we lived in England, the foxies introduced me to Chris Decker who started Earthdance. At the time, he was producing a weekly friday night club called 'Escape from Samsara' at The Fridge in Brixton. (Yes, it's the same spot where Love Muscle was) For the last six years, he's been working on Earthdance. The basic idea was to link up dance parties all over the planet and pray for peace simultaneously.

This year, about 50 countries are taking part (including Iraq!) with live satalite connections at 24:00 GMT when all the parties will play the same track. Foxgluv made the track called, "Prayer for Peace" which played at simultaneously all over the planet to unify the world in the affirmation of peace.

The San Francisco party is still in Golden Gate Park, but it's grown to become an all day music festival with the prayer for peace at 4 pm PST.

Drums of War

Bush got what he wanted, congress caved in. The economy still sucks and it started tanking as soon as the shrub became the front-runner in the stolen election of 2000.

There have been massive protests with 8 to 10,000 people in the streets of San Francisco almost every weekend and this one was no exception. What is very encouraging are the reports of massive anti-war demonstrations around the country. For all my foreign friends reading this, please realize that Bush and his buddies are taking advantage of our national grief for their own greedy purposes. The vice-president's previous employer, Halliburton stands to make quite a tidy sum off this war. The corporate media white wash might lead one to believe that they'll get away with their schemes, but good natured people everywhere will all ways oppose them.

You can still contact your congress person and voice your opposition to millitary action. If you live in the Bay Area, they are:

Urgent Apparel Appeal Update

I'm calling on everyone reading this to contact Eddie Bauer and get them to reestablish their fair pricing policy. For more info about what you can do to reverse their greedy, mean-spirited attack on tall people, click HERE.
