For the week ending October 6th October started without much fanfare. San Francisco's Indian Summer eased into its own and everyday this week was great. Of course it was cold and cloudy the whole time I had everyday free. Now that I'm stuck indoors with a long-term temp gig, the weather spites me again by turning wonderful right when I can least enjoy it. |

I finished my first full week of this temp assignment at The Sharper Image corporate office. It was kind of grueling to have to deal with 40 hours of work and going to school and still trying to have a life, especially since I had to wake up everyday at 6:30 am. That wasn't too bad when I was working last year, but considering the fact that I've grown quite accustomed to waking when I please, it was a bit challenging and yawn-inducing to dust off the old alarm clock and actually use it. |

| What
are words for?
I was over at a friends house this week and his flatmate was watching the UK version of the Antiques Roadshow. I was shocked to hear, a middle aged, working class woman with a thick Northern accent say she was just "happy to know its provenence" in regards to the item she brought in for evaluation. The reason for my shock is the fact that I know a lot of very smart, edumacated Americans and to the best of my knowlege I've never actually heard the word provenence used in a casual conversation before. In fact, I think I've only experienced the word in literature or an SAT test. Most working class Americans would probably confuse the word with the city name Providence and only then because its also the name of a mildly successful TV show. Instead of talking about war, why can't politicians talk about the poor state of basic education in this country? |

Takin
It To The Streets
Last
year, Bush began bombing innocent women and children in Afghanistan on
the day of the Castro Street Fair. This year, it's a different country
and the cluster bombs and "food" packets are different colours.
The characters are more colourful too... |

Angelic Visions Sometimes I watch the CBS TV show, "Touched By an Angel" and other times, I almost laugh out loud cause its so pathetically formulaic. This week, I just shut it off and listened to CDs instead. |

Press revelations this week reported that the Bush Administration planned their preemptive strike "policy" against Iraq back in Y2K before the election was handed to him by his dad's cronies on the supreme court. I was so outraged that I called my congressional representatives to express my opinions. If you're like me and you want to know "Why Now?" you can contact your congress person. If you live in the Bay Area, they are: |

I'm calling on everyone reading this to contact Eddie Bauer and get them to reestablish their fair pricing policy. For more info about what you can do to reverse their greedy, mean-spirited attack on tall people, click HERE. |
