Purge your belongings
Pick a room and attack it. Have three containers: One for
keepers, one for trash and one for charity (or garage sale).
Be ruthless -- keepers only have value if they are necessary
for now or have some sort of heirloom value. I -could-use-this-one-day
doesn't count. Overwhelmed by an entire room?
Pick just a drawer or a closet. Take the slower approach.
Open your mail near the trash can Trash the junk mail immediately.
Don't get sentimental about anything you didn't request. I've
wound up knee-deep in this stuff in the past thinking maybe
I'd subscribe to that magazine later or perhaps I should hang
onto this offer....
Can't part with anything?
Imagine your house is on fire and you have ten minutes to
save your important things. It will become clear to you which
items mean the most.
