2007 Hawaiian Holiday At the end of August I took off to Hawaii for a week. My visit overlapped the Lei Bear Day Luau and Labor Day Weekend so there wasn't nearly enough lounging around but I did manage to relax a bit and I had a great time.
A Rainbow A Day
I know why these islands are called the land of a million rainbows because I saw at least one every day that I was there! No matter how many I see, each one seems so MISTerious and magical...
|
FINALLY! After dreaming about Hawaii for years, I finally go around to getting over there in person. In 2003 I listed the island chain as one of my "Places To Go" and I finally got the time and money together to make the trip happen.

Keiki keeping Me Busy
I stayed with the Ohana on the hill. Wig has been living there for while now and it was about time I went over for a visit. I was surprised to see how big Toupee and Wiglet have gotten and it was so wonderful to spend time with them...

Bishop Museum One day while the Keiki were at kula we hung out at the Bishop Museum. No visit to Honolulu would be complete without checking out this amazing treasure. Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. The Museum was established to house the extensive collection of Hawaiian artifacts and royal family heirlooms of the Princess, and has expanded to include millions of artifacts, documents and photographs about Hawai‘i and other Pacific island cultures.

Queen's Birthday
Sunday September 2nd marked what would have been Queen Lili'uokalani's 169th birthday. She is still such a symbol of courage and hope to so many that I decided to skip a day of boating with the bears to check out the celebrations on the grounds of Iolani Palace. The festivities featured song, hula, prayer, food as well as free tours of the palace, which served as the home — and for a time, the prison — of Lili'uokalani, the last reigning monarch of the Kingdom of Hawai'i.
