A Holiday With Friends Old & New

It wouldn't be an "only in San Francisco moment" without some friends to share it with. Lucky for me, Happy Kat and her hubby Ben were up for a day in the park with the newest addition to their little family. Since it was Skyler's first Easter we had to hang out in the shade of a palm tree for most of the day - or at least until she got too fussy. Kat said she probably just got over stimulated and I hope it was good practice for them because Pride month is just around the corner...

Easter Bonnet Contest

There were fewer of the exuberant, creative bonnets this year but that didn't deter my enthusiasm for the contest. I shot some video of my favourite contestant - the flamming peeps!

The "Pink Ladies" won this year and I think it had more to do with the fact that they had the judges outnumbered by about three to one! Slathering on all that pink makeup and getting so many people dressed in the same theme is quite a feat for a Sunday afternoon so perhaps they really did deserve to win.

Hunky Jesus Contest

I had so many favourites in the contest this year I didn't know who to vote for. There was SURFER JESUS who hammed it up for the crowd and dropped trou for the judges. There was TEASE US JESUS with the beautiful sleeve tattoos, POGO JESUS who brought a little talent to the competition and the creatively themed contestants like EASY RIDER JESUS, GUIDO JESUS, and SANJAYA JESUS who urged the crowd to vote for the worst like American Idol contestant of his parody and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR who brought his own entourage of adoring fans.

The Abercrombie Jesus (Left) and The Abdominal Jesus (Right) were popular with a large section of the audence.

Of course there could only be one winner, and this year it was OLD SKOOL JESUS who carried around a large wooden cross all day.
