2007 Q's Birthday

This year my birthday was on a Wednesday and I figured I could sqeeze a lot of mileage out of it by co-opting both weekends surrounding the event.

Chicago

I figured the holiday weekend would be a great time to get out of town and try something new for my bday. I have a great-uncle in chicago and he's getting on in years and I really like spending time with him was a birthday bonus. I hung out with LP again but he had to go up to Wisconsin for a family thing and the rest of my Chicago pals were out of town the whole time I was there - so much for advanced planning. Still, I had a great time meeting new people and hanging out with some of the House Music Festival friends I made last summer.

On my last day there it decided to finally snow a little - they called it "snow flurries" and I thought it was beautiful. I was prepared and dressed for the cold but it was still pretty amazing to see snow in the air. I've never really experienced that - except for one night in London but that only lasted a few minutes - this was wholly different in that it floated through the air and stayed white on the ground. I found my eyes focusing on different bits of white at varying distances. Apparently it was no big deal to the locals but everytime I've gone skiing, the snow is already on the ground and it was quite a novelty to me to see it being made and blowing around...

San Francisco

My SF celebrations were really low key this year - just various dinners with a couple of friends - nothing too out of the ordinary but still, a great excuse to get out a bit and to get some new CDs and have some fun.
