Finding Friends old and new in New York City was one of the main highlights of my trip.

SO GREAT TO FIND TOM TEARE
I ran into Tom Teare with his NJ posse at the Duggout on Friday night and hung out with them at various parties over the weekend. These photos are from the Memorial Day BBQ on the NYC Eagle's rooftop. Tom's the guy who introduced me to Mark Bingham so it was really special for me to see him this week. Tom's been living in Chicago for the last couple of years and he's one of the people I miss most when I manage to venture out to the bars or street fairs around San Francisco.

PSYCHIC PSARAH
Oh how far we've come since the Toon Town daze when Psychic Psarah and Bunny used to rave all night long... These days, Sarah is living her dream of being a successful stylist in New York City. She moved there to do magazine covers and she has since moved on to styling shoots for billboards as I discovered when we were walking through the East Village and we came across THIS CALVIN KLEIN BILLBOARD. Turns out, Sarah went down to a Caribbean island photo shoot to work on the project. I'm still not sure how much actual work is involved in making a half naked girl look wet on a beach, but it sounds like a great gig if you can get it!

BACK ON SUNDAY
I met up with Sarah again on Sunday at a little restaurant that her BF Alex and our pal Jason from Sacramento take over every week. They play really good grooves and there's food and a really nice summer vibe going on. Jason has been in NYC about as long as Sarah and I'm glad we've all been able to stay in touch over the years no matter how tenuously...

With Sacto Jason though now I suppose he should be NYC Jason
 A SUNDAY SURPRISE
I wasn't expecting to see DJ Spun (See photo above) at all on this trip. We traded emails and I tried to get some studio time with him but he went on a tour of Australia and I thought he was going to be gone. Instead, he flew into NYC on the same flight as the Sydney Convicts and in all the traveling we missed each other. Still, everything worked out great because we got to share a meal and hang out for a few hours at least.

 HANGING OUT WITH AARON'S CREW
I really liked checking out Aaron's work on Wednesday and hanging out with him afterwards. It was icing on the cake to see him again on Monday at the NYC Eagle's rooftop BBQ with his BF and roommate.
