2005 Castro Street Fair
This year's event had great weather, great music and lots of people to meet. Not as many parties in the windows over-looking the street, though as the picture at right illustrates, I did see a few this year.

Basil
It's always nice to run into my pal Basil. He was working the crowd in front of a friend's booth in the little artsy section of 18th Street.

Furry Folks
For some reason I saw quite a few furry folks at this year's event. I know the whole fetishising mascot costumes is gaining more visibility, but The Castro Street Fair has always seemed so tame, and mainstream. Perhaps it was too hot last weekend to dress up for the Folsom Street Fair - or maybe they were just dispersed in that much larger crowd - no matter really, it's fun to see them shake things up this weekend.

Milk Plaza
As a vegan, I'm morally opposed to promoting milk as anything other than a sick, unnatural thing that should be banished from polite society. I'm sure many people felt the same way about Harvey Milk, the murdered gay-activist and local politician. Unlike cow's milk though, I totally support Harvey's goal of equal rights for all Americans. The photos posted at Milk Plaza will be incorporated into a new memorial as it seems the space is getting a make-over.
