2004 T-Day
For the first time in my adult life, I've had a family based
T-Day. My sister and I flew back to Ohio to spend the holiday
with our grandmother on her farm outside of Bowling Green.

T-Day with family
My sister and I visited
in July, but the weather couldn't have been more opposite
on this trip. There were a couple of storms that passed through
just as we arrived and it was quite cold outside. The farm
was still quaint and bucolic, though it was winterized. We
spent much of our week-long visit inside with Grandma reminiscing,
ruminating and playing scrabble.

A Bavarian Beauty
Our aunt and uncle took us on a day-trip up to Frankenmuth
Michigan. The town was founded by a bunch fo Bavarians who
had no interest in being American so they replicated their
German life and village in the lower peninsula of Michigan.
Today, it's a cute little hook to lure tourists. Apparently,
they are world famous for chicken dinners and Christmas decorations.
We checked out some of the shops, and went to lunch. They
DID have the word vegan on the menu, so I know I wasn't the
first vegan to eat there, but the food was just OK. It is
still Michigan after all and the meal was more meatless than
vegan. We did quite a bit of shopping, maybe not as much buying
- but it was cool to have a wander and check out all the Christmas
ornaments and such. On the drive home, we stopped at a little
noodle place that is a franchise of a regional chain and it
was SO good! All in all, it was a great day out.

Post-Modern
Sculptures
All along our drive through Michigan, we saw these post-modern
sculptures. Even though they looked like they were made from
gray concrete and black asphalt, my aunt said they were made
with a material that she called 'snow'.
