Need A New Watch?

2004 Halloween

It seems like this is one of the "amature night" holidays. By that, I mean it's the one time of the year, perhaps with New Year's Eve when people who never go out suddenly deside they will drink too much and take to the streets.

Boring Yet Again

I was invited to a couple of parties, but didn't make most of them. Having this holiday land on a Sunday night was a little rough to deal with. I had to get my teeth cleaned early the next day. My dentist is quite busy and I was lucky to get that appointment so it meant I had to make an early night of it regardless.

I did venture out during the day however and met up with my pal Martin in the Castro for some lunch. The neighbourhood was buzzing with pre-party energy. Walking around, we saw many people in costumes and all of the police barricades were being set-up for crowd control.

Even the Muni Station was decorated. It is pictured below with some trick-or-treaters heading for the trains.

My pal John and his friends from Santa Barbara were in town and I hung out with them on Saturday night. We went bar hopping for a bit and I called it an early night.

Voting on Halloween

At brunch, Martin told me that he voted at City Hall about a month early. After hearing his story and realizing that it was an option for me... I went down there on Halloween Sunday to cast my ballot. The lines were quite long. I got there just as they were closing for the day. It was fun to see people dressed in silly costumes engaged in such a serious activity. It provided a layer of levity to an otherwise stressful and contentious event.
