2004 Bunny Day

What would E-Day be without a trip to Dolores Park? Um... probably last year's mellow, under the weather rave-up.

Aunt Shirley's Crew

Daddy Garry's "sister" Shirley back in SF for Easter!
One of the highlights of this event is running into Aunt Shirley and seeing what she'll be wearing this year. I missed the event last year, but as you can see from these 2002 pix, she's far better equipped for spring this year!

Hunky Jesus Contest
The headlining event of the day's festivities is always the Hunky Jesus Contest. This year's contest was obscured by fog, a thick crowd and poor sound so it was difficult to figure out which Jesus actually won the contest. My favourite one was "Radioactive Jesus" with his bright, florescent green robes and body paint he looked like the Jesus nightlight in my kitchen. My friend Tom thinks he won third place. The favourites of some of my friends, were "Baby Jesus" who was an actual baby brought up on stage by his dad and "Alimony Jesus" who was a girl dressed up like a pregnant virgin Mary. Easter Bonnet Contest

Always the fag favourite
This year's stage set-up was in a poor location with bad sound so it was difficult to follow what was going on. I saw several of the contestants milling about the crowd before and after the contest and got to see their creations up close. The winner was a guy dressed in brown. He had a fondue pot in the middle of his hat. The wide brim was punctuated around the edge with sticks. At the end of each stick was a strawberry. Children were encouraged to join him on stage and dip the strawberries into the chocolate.
