How
entertaining ...
It seems that the outside promoter of Gay Day at Great America
is responsible for organizing the "entertainment".
This year's promoter is still kinda new at this and while
the acts they brought in were amusing, I hope they sort out
a more compelling and enjoyable mix of acts if they promote
next years' event.

DJ Dancing
The main stage area was pretty desolate until the ride action
settled down a bit. By the time we were ready to get our groove
on, they had Philidelphia DJ Joe Gauthreaux playing the most
tired , generic, euro-trash I've ever heard. The music was
really bland and if dancing was more of a priorty, I would
have been way more bummed. Instead, I got to talk to friends
and make a couple of new ones!

Invertigo's
Drag Stage
On our way to Invertigo, we discovered our pal and SF chantuese,
Veronika Klause performing on a small stage. She sang a couple
of numbers and we decided to enjoy the rest of her set while
in the nearby line for Invertigo.

We
walked by the area a while later, we returned to the area
and found that the Trannyshack kids had taken over the stage
after Veronika's set.
Ggreg and I enjoyed a couple of the lip-sync acts before
moving on to our next ride...

Christine
W
We walked back to the mainstage area just in time to catch
Christine W's encore number. I like some of her older material
so I was bummed that we missed the majority of her set. We
did see her perform her new hit, a re-make of "Some Lovin'".
The song is OK, sounds a bit like a bland remix of the Murk
Boy's original track. The best part was when she introduced
the band, then the dancers, the flaggers and the sound board
operator. Things got surreal as she brought her personal assistant,
make-up artist and a drag queen from Las Vegas up on stage
to take a bow and address the crowd.
