The
Destination is Fashion
My pal Martin travels a lot for work and fun. In one of the
local papers, he read about a fashion show to benefit a local
charity called Destination Foundation. They help terminally
ill people take a trip of a lifetime. He decided to help them
out in a big way, so he bought two tickets to the fundraiser
and invited me to tag along... he also donated a bunch of
air miles. It's a great program and totally run on a grass
roots effort. They started a couple of years ago with the
goal of helping one person a month. Things have snowballed
quite a bit and now they help a lot more than twelve people
a year! For more information about Destination Foundation,
check out their web site.

Focus on the fashion
It was all I could do to refrain from weeping openly during
the introductory video. They profiled some of the people that
Destination Foundation has helped, like a guy in a wheel chair
with oxygen that wanted to take his family to Disneyland before
he made his transition. I thought about his kids and how the
simple gesture of paying for their vacation would create lasting
memories that those kids can cherish for the rest of their
lives. Of course I felt like crying when the models hit the
runway too. Not coz some of them couldn't walk but because
I realized how much of an impact Vivian Westwood has had on
fashion. She made deconstruction cool and hip over thirty
years ago and these designers are still taking razor blades
and safety pins to their garments...

Of
course YOU'RE here
I wasn't too surprised to see Jason El Diablo at this event.
He's always quite fashionable and willing to support a good
cause (Yes that says 'cause' NOT cock!)

You
clean up nice...
A little surprised to see my old pal Santiago on a wander
through the crowd. His date for the evening was local celebutante,
Juanita Moore. Their matching yellow accents were so FASHIONABLE
and just in time for summer.

HEY!
I know you!
Seeing Shazza anywhere is always a brilliant surprise. When
the mega celeb deigns an appearance, it's always cause for
celebration! She donated her time and talent to help pull
the show off without a hitch. Don't know if you can tell from
the photo, but the gold brocade fabric from her jacket is
the same knoll fabric in the "levi" jeans (Pictured
above right)
