Gay Day at Great America

I had fun last year and decided to again this year. Puppy and his BF were going camping so I tagged along with Greg, his BF Gary and our pal Pat who took this picture of us.

Gang Riot

Two weeks before this year's event, there was a massive gang riot inside Great America. They had to shut down the park at like 6pm and an hour later it had moved to the parking lot. They didn't mention it, but when we arrived, we went through a metal detector and we were searched. I smuggled in some eye drops and Pat smuggled an energy bar into the park. Obviously they were concerned about drugs in eye drops, but the wind on the roller coasters dries out my contact lenses. There was a heavy and conspicuous police pressence just in case any of the blue collar dykes sporting mullets got into a brawl with one of the hairdressers roaming around.

Once Inside...

We did a whirlwind tour and I got to ride a lot more things this year. There weren't a lot of opportunities to make line-buddies like last year for the simple fact that there were hardly any queues, and because we were a group of four, we didnt have to search out anyone to join us.

In the car park, we saw several people sporting the red, white and blue theme that has become a mainstay of this event, but once we got inside the park, we were far too busy running to another ride to stop and notice what people were wearing.

Who wants to ride?

Attendance was waaaaay down this year, but we didn't really care. We got to ride TOP GUN with an under five minute wait for the front seats!
