Chinese New Year Parade

It wouldn't be a proper parade without a few marching bands. This one wore purple and white uniforms and sounded pretty cool, so I took some pictures.

Most kids in High School marching bands are total geeks and these types of events are like the highpoint of their school year. I should know, I was in a high school marching band for years.

Another dragon

I know these pix are a bit hard to see. It was a night parade and aparently I didn't set the exposure properly. If you squint really hard, you can see an entrance to a building behind a big dragon. My dentist's office is in that building. His office is on the 15th floor so you can't actually see it in this photo, but you can see the doorway and the guard in the lobby watching the parade.

It wouldn't be a parade without a politician

Ex-City Supervisor, Kevin Shelley is running in the mid-term election. Voters go to the polls in a little more than a week. He was the only politician an antique car. Maybe he wants people to believe that he has traditional or old fashioned values.

There were certainly was a lot of tradional iconography going on throughout the parade...
