2001 Events: Southern Decadence

A street band in New OrleansTakin' it to the Streets in New Orleans

It seemed like the French Quarter was saturated with sound... Buskering by accapella songsters or single musicians took place everyday I was there. I found this band set up in the middle of Royal Street when it was closed on the weekend. They were pretty good and quite a crowd gathered to hear them play. Down the street at the world famous, Cafe Du Monde, their house band was cooking up a jazzy set in the rain. The people at the tables eating the fat, sugar and salt served hot and fresh daily at the cafe loved the music so much that a few of the couples even started dancing. I didn't get my dance on in the street, but I did enjoy some of the music.

Can't get decadent enough?
