This film was produced and directed by my pal David, so I'm a bit biased.

For those that don't know, the Cockettes were a performance troupe of queers in the late 1960s and early 1970s based in San Francisco. They were straight, gay, lesbian, and bisexual... but all of them drag queens.

They were the original "bearded ladies" of the Castro and the launching pad for the talents of Divine and Sylvester.

Many of the original Cockettes were in attendance, and after the film they received a standing ovation as they took to the stage. I wanted to get their photo, but my digicam batteries were dead. I'm sure Marc Geller documented the event extensively though as I spotted him in the crowd. I did manage to snap some pics of the audience members inspired enough by the Cockettes to dress up and attend this world premiere.

This film gets my vote as Best Documentary.
