2001 Events: Folsom Street Fair

Q on Folsom StreetMy 13th Fair

The last thing I said to my pal Mark was see you at the "Folsom Street Fair". The events surrounding his death seemed to taint this year's festivities for a lot of people and generally contributed to a more subdued atmosphere. I've often said this event has been getting more and more tame every year. Some have said I'm just jaded. That may be true, I've only missed five Folsom Street Fairs since they started them in the 1980s. Maybe I'm just used to seeing such acts of "extreme" kink, that it's become bland and commonplace to me now. In any case, attendance seemed down this year. I liked that part. It made navigating the streets a lot easier. There were lots of people I know from Los Angeles in town for the weekend. I chalked it up to a combination of cheap flights and even cheaper hotels. The weather was well suited to strolling and socializing with friends.

A virtual parade of pals

Big events like these usually bring out a cavalcade of Q-pals, most of whom I never really get to hang out with otherwise. (everyone's so "busy" working to afford to live in the Bay Area these days) Here's a brief selection of some friends I saw...

Now that's "entertainment"

I wasn't really featuring the official line-up of stage acts and DJs this year. I found the crowd to be far more entertaining. Here's some highlights...

If you're easily offended or you have a small, insecure, humanistic deity that gets really angry at seeing people happy and having fun, you might not want to click through this section of my site.

The CBQ (Cute Boy Quotient) for this event is "4"
