For the past few years I've gone to SoCal for Christmas and stayed through New Year's Eve but this year my budget wouldn't allow for such a long trip and I found myself in San Francisco for NYE.
My pal Josh had a number of parties on his radar and asked if I was going to the Lapidge is for Lovers party - a house party on Lapidge Alley in the inter-mission. I checked out the Facebook page for the event and decided I would definitely go as I've known several of the peopel who RSVP'ed early. Once that was settled I had to sort out an entourage. Josh planned to attend at least four parties and I didn't want to get caught up in all that drama. My friend Heidi rang up asking about fun stuff for NYE and we quickly decided to meet up for dinner and check out the Lapidge party.
Heidi's mum and Dutch boyfriend were both in town and they joined us for a very enjoyable dinner at Barracuda Sushi (One of my favourite restaurants in town). I later joked that we went there instead of Bearracuda coz they had a better selection of fish
When we arrived, the place was packed. I tried to sort out drinks and ended up chatting to a Norma Desmond character in the kitchen. Turned out it was Matt Sussman (Josh's crush dujour). The party was fairly lively and then all of a sudden a marching band paraded up the alley and stopped in front of the apartment.
Most of us rushed to the windows - lots of people poured out into the street and started dancing. I stayed in the kitchen for the countdown - the rest of the apartment was devoid of activity coz everyone rushed outside. After a few cheers and midnight kisses we went out to dance in the street. Seems someone's clock was slower out there and the band stopped playing to count down the new year (again).

Due to a power failure and a failure to back-up my data properly, all of the pre-2k and many of the Y2K events pages and pictures were lost. If you were there, you lived it - if not BELIEVE THE HYPE! A new millenium is a good time to move on anyway...
